Parties, Propolis & Immune Recipes

Different Ways to Use Our Alcohol-Based Propolis - not neat ;)

Always dilute!

1. Internal Use (Drops in Water or Tea)

Purpose: immune support, sore throat, general wellness
How:

  • Add 3–10 drops to a small glass of water or warm (not hot) tea.

  • Drink 1–2 times per day.

Notes:

  • Avoid putting tincture directly in your mouth—the alcohol can be irritating.

  • Not recommended for people allergic to bee products or alcohol-sensitive individuals.

  • Check with a healthcare professional if pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications.

2. Throat Spray or Gargle

Purpose: sore throat, mouth irritation
How:

  • Dilute 5–10 drops of propolis tincture in warm water and gargle.

  • OR make a simple spray by mixing with water in a small spray bottle (shake before use).

Notes:

  • Do not use undiluted on the throat—too strong and can burn.

3. Topical Use on Skin

Purpose: minor cuts, scratches, pimples, cold sores
How:

  • Apply 1–2 drops directly with a cotton swab.

  • Allow it to dry—it forms a natural protective layer.

Notes:

  • May sting due to alcohol.

  • Patch test first; propolis can cause reactions in sensitive people.

4. Inhalation (Steam Method)

Purpose: sinus support, cold symptoms
How:

  • Add 2–3 drops to hot water.

  • Inhale the steam with a towel over your head.

5. Mixing Into Honey

Purpose: gentler internal use
How:

  • Mix 5–10 drops of tincture into a teaspoon of honey.

  • Take it directly or dissolve in warm water.

Notes:

  • Good for people sensitive to alcohol taste.

6. Adding to Homemade Remedies

a. Balms & Salves

You can add propolis tincture to:

  • wound-healing salves

  • lip balms

  • cold-sore balms

Since it is alcohol-based, add only small quantities to avoid separating the mixture.

b. Tincture Blends

Combine with:

  • echinacea

  • elderberry

  • ginger extracts
    for seasonal immune blends.

7. Oral Health (Diluted Only)

Uses: mouth rinse for gum irritation
How:

  • Add 3–5 drops to half a glass of warm water.

  • Swish gently for 30–60 seconds, then spit.

Important:
Do not apply inside the mouth undiluted—it can burn tissue.

8. Household Uses

a. Natural disinfectant

Add a few drops to cleaning water for its antimicrobial properties.

b. Preserving tincture blends

It acts as a natural preservative in herbal extracts.

Safety Notes

  • Always patch test on skin.

  • Use caution if allergic to bees or tree resins.

  • Don’t use undiluted on mucous membranes.

  • Not ideal for children due to alcohol content (unless advised by a professional).

  • Seek guidance if pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication.
